My mum was a teacher and books were a big part of my childhood. I used to get lost in the magical world of The Wishing Chair, Mr Majeika and just about everything written by Roald Dahl. In later years I read everything from Shakespeare to Harry Potter and The Babysitters Club. Reading is a big part of our house and at 6 years old my son is discovering the magical worlds hidden in books that he can read by himself. As his reading levels are developing the stories are becoming more and more exciting for him. I look forward to re-reading the books I loved as a child with him and I love watching his love affair with the written word evolving.
What were your favourite childhood books?
"So please, oh PLEASE, we beg, we pray, go throw your TV set away. And in its place you can install, a lovely bookshelf on the wall." — Roald Dahl
I loved the Sweet Valley High books (shame faced)
